I’m excited to post my first giveaway! I joined a group that sends me products to review, and then I am able to give away products to those who read my blog. I don’t know how often I’ll be participating in these reviews, but I recently received a book to read and review, and it was the perfect one for our family.
Alone Yet Not Alone is the story of a family living in Pennsylvania in 1755, during the height of the French and Indian War. A close-knit family with strong faith, the Leininger family is torn apart when Allegheny warriors raid their home, separating them and carrying the two sisters off with them. The story follows Barbara as she is whisked away from her home and forced to live with the Indians. She has a fierce determination to do all she can to break free, rescue her sister, and return home to the family she loves.
I read this book with my girls, since it is written specifically for their ages, and it was perfect because it fit right into the time period we were studying in history. We read a chapter each night, and they were captivated. They loved the story of a girl close to their age, and admired her strength of character and rock-solid trust in God. We had heard that the book was being made into a movie, and now we are very much looking forward to June when the movie will be released. And since Joni Eareckson Tada is one of my heroes, I was thrilled to learn that she sings the title song for the movie, which received quite a lot of publicity recently during Oscar season.
I would happily recommend this book to anyone, especially young girls. If you desire your daughter to read quality books with godly characters and strong messages of faith and trust in God, then grab this one and then go see the movie together.
I am happy to have the opportunity to offer a copy of this book to one of my readers! Simply leave a comment on this post, include your email address, and my daughters will help me choose a winner (we’ll draw a name from a hat). We’ll choose the winner on May 6. Have fun, and even if you don’t win, I hope you’ll check out this book and movie!
