The giveaways are coming faster than ever–I received my next one in the mail yesterday and I haven’t even had time to open it yet! But for now, it’s time to give away a copy of Wherever the River Runs by Kelly Minter, and I can honestly say this is the best book I have read in several months (and as much as I read, that’s saying something)!
Kelly Minter writes with refreshing, raw honesty even when it exposes her own flaws and shortcomings, and her style makes it easy to connect with her as she shares her experiences learning about, visiting, and ministering to tribes who live in remote villages along the Amazon in Brazil.
If you like feeling comfortable in your own little bubble, this book is not for you. If you get offended at the thought that you might have a responsibility to reach out to the poor around you, this book is not for you. If you like the thought that you are the center of your world and expect everyone else to act accordingly, this book is not for you.
If you love to read about missions, read this book. If you love to read about other cultures, read this book. If you love to be challenged to your core, read this book. If you want a new way of looking at the communities around you and how you can help, read this book. If you don’t mind being humbled at the stark differences between your life and the life of tribal Brazilian believers, read this book.
I was challenged and convicted in several areas while reading this book. It’s a very easy read, but a hard read at the same time, as it shines a spotlight on areas of your heart that you’d really rather not examine too closely. Enter this giveaway, and even if you don’t win the free copy, go buy the book anyway. It’s just that good.
Enter by commenting with your email address, and we’ll draw the winner next Thursday.
