I am…

…Monica, wife of Clay and mommy to Abigail, Catherine, Elisabeth, Samuel, Silas, and Lydia. I spend my days homeschooling, trying to make sure my kids are decently fed and clothed, and attempting to keep a livable home. I absolutely love being a wife and mother. I’m doing my best to honor Christ each day as I seek to know Him more and love Him with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength.

I love to read.  My most influential mentors have been authors such as Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, Elisabeth Elliot, and Elyse Fitzpatrick.   I am homeschooling my children using the classical Christian method with Veritas Press curriculum.  We love it, and although it is a challenge homeschooling so many children on different levels, it is a challenge well worth it.

We have lived in small town, West KY since December, 2008, and at our current church since March 2014. My husband pastors our church, and we love these people and this area.  We are extremely excited to be ministering and following Christ among this great family of believers.  My life is very ordinary, but it is very beautiful. Come along with me as I travel the journey God has laid out for me.

    Dear Monica,

…Sounds like we have very similar goals in life. It is very nice to meet you–a “Sister-in-Christ!”

Welcome to the wonderful world of homeschooling, and thanks for stopping by site!

    God Bless,
    Janet

    Hi Monica,

Yesterday, I talked with your Mom, and she told me about your website. I was so excited to hear about this, and I have been reading a lot of it this morning. I still have more to go, but after I saw the pictures, I just couldn’t wait to send you a note.!! It makes me feel so proud of you, that you are such a wonderful Christian Mother, wife, daughter, and teacher.
I never knew you wanted to write, until Glenda told me yesterday. I will “visit” often.!!
Glenda told me that Zetta and Inman are doing pretty well, except that Inman is having some hip problems. They are such a wonderful couple, and Dean and I always appreciated them SO much. Inman was SO good to Dean after he had his stroke, and he helped him often. I miss living next door to them. I miss a lot of things in Somerset, but I am so glad to be near Beth, and that I can help her in her piano Studio. She opened “Studio 88” in Sept. 2006, after resigning from her job as Music Director of Crossroads Christian Church after almost 10 yrs. We are having a good time together, with lots of kids.!!!
I won’t throw everything at you at once, but just had to get in touch.!!
It is SO interesting to catch up on your life, and you can also visit Beth’s website, if you like. The address is: http://www.bethstudio88.com
and it tells about what she is doing now. I think there are also a few pictures.
I just can’t believe how fast you kids grew up! Glenda also told me that Stacey adopted a little Asian girl, and she is enjoying her so much.
Please keep in touch now and then. I know you are very busy.

    Love,
Ruth ( your “old” piano teacher.)

    Monica,
I love reading your website. It gives me comfort when I go through things with my kids and then read your posts and see that you are going through some of the same things. The way you write your experiences too is very comforting and comical. It is just a “beautiful ordinary” life that we live, even though sometimes it may feel like it is a very big and scarey roller coster.

Jackie B. referred me to one of your blog posts because she said it reminded her of my splendid days with my own children. And she was right! It is so good to know that there are other mothers out there who are blessed with children and blessed to be in the middle of the chaos! 😉

I’m also from this same ‘little’ town you speak of. Interesting place isn’t it?!

    Have a blessed day!

HI Monica! I read your post “Revive 15 Recap…” and left you a message there, but wanted to touch base here. I can’t tell you how much that post impacted me! I have shared it with a few friends as well. God spoke to me LOUDLY through it! Thank you so much!

I would like to send you my book as a gift. I feel like God allowed me to put it together for the sake of sharing it as He leads. If that is okay, would you send me your address? My email is bgbcsmith@gmail.com

    Grace to you!

I hesitate to comment after seeing all the “mommy-something” bloggers who have liked your posts. I’m an “old mommy”. My kids are grown and married, but I homeschooled both of them, loved every minute of it and miss it a lot some days. I’m also a Kentucky native, so it’s nice to find you! So if you want to read about the retired homeschool mom, learn about living with type 1 diabetes or riding bicycles…or you never know what else I may write about… come over and visit! 🙂 Blessings!

    • Thank you for your comment! I’m glad you commented even after hesitating. We need desperately to hear from faithful mamas like you who have gone before us and can share wisdom and encouragement. Thanks for stopping by!
